We’ve heard it all our lives, drink your water, it’s essential to stay hydrated. We all know it, but how many of us drink enough water in a day? Water is so dull that it’s hard to drink it, let alone as much as they tell us we should consume daily. We should be drinking half of our body weight in ounces each day so here are a few tips to help you reach that.
Spruce it up
Try giving your water a boost by adding some of your favorite fruits. Infusing your water with fruity flavors is refreshing and fun! It’s also an excellent way to help you get enough water throughout the day. Make a pitcher in advance and enjoy the beauty of the pitcher every time you open the fridge. When the water you’re drinking is also pretty, it’s easier to drink more. Here are some wonderful recipes to try.
- Sassy Water – is a great way to stay hydrated and will also help get rid of bloating. Make this water with fresh ginger, cucumber, lemon, and spearmint leaves. Combine all the ingredients and let the flavors blend.
- Lemon and Lime Water – citrus-infused water is a refreshing way to help cut calories and break the soda habit. Put a few slices of each lemon and lime in a pitcher of water and enjoy this refreshing drink all summer long.
- Watermelon and basil – a unique combination that is strangely addictive. To get the best flavor possible, use fresh, ripe watermelon and freshly cut basil leaves. 3-4 small slices of watermelon and about ¼ cup of basil leaves make this recipe perfect.
- Kiwi and lime – slice a kiwi, ½ lime and add to a pitcher of regular or sparkling water and enjoy this flavorful water right away. Refill with more water and use until all the fruit flavor is gone.
- Pineapple and coconut – for a tropical feeling, try adding 1/3 cup of fresh pineapple and ¼ cup fresh coconut chunks. Get all the flavor of the tropics and stay hydrated, too!
- Raspberry and mint – using ¼ cup of fresh raspberries and ¼ cup fresh mint in a pitcher of water are sure to please even the pickiest of water drinkers.
- Cucumber and mint – use ¼ of a cucumber sliced and ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves and enjoy!
Play with it
Don’t be afraid to play with the flavors of your favorite herbs, vegetables, and fruits. When using herb leaves, cut or tear the leaves to release more flavor. Citrus fruits, like lemon, limes, oranges, and grapefruits add a kick to water and are an excellent way to infuse refreshing flavors.
You can use a pretty infusion pitcher to make drinking the recommended amount easier. Another great tool is an infusion water bottle. Having one of these makes it possible to take your tasty water to go, so you’re never without it. Rotate your favorite recipes, so you don’t get bored and enjoy all these lovely flavors. Stay hydrated!
